Garage Grounds: Athens' Nano-Roastery Gem

Jeremy Jones operates a coffee nano-roastery from the garage at the back of his home, in plain sight in the quaint Eastside neighborhood of Athens, Ohio. His business started in the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown of 2020 that massively disrupted daily life for many across the United States. What started as a curiosity to be more hands-on with the food he consumes (Jones also brewed his beer and made his pasta from scratch), and a way to beat the boredom of being homebound and socially distant from friends and neighbors, Jones started to experiment on perfecting small batches of coffees he roasts from home. Spurred by his curiosity and perfectionist drive, the hobby quickly grew serious with updates to a more advanced roasting machine with a tablet connection, real-time roasting data, and soon a website as neighbors flocked to get their Java fix from Jones. Today, Jones balances his remote system administrator job with his burgeoning cottage food business, offering a range of quality beans from all seven continents worldwide.
